In occasione del suo 20° anniversario, lo spettacolo teatrale in lingua inglese Disney’s Beauty and The Beast, sarà in programma al Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia in prima nazionale e successivamente a Milano, nel corso di una imminente tournée internazionale.

La squadra creativa originale di Disney’s Beauty and the Beast si è ricomposta per riportare in scena questo classico di Broadway.
Il musical è diretto da Rob Roth e coreografato da Matt West; i costumi sono di Ann Hould-Ward (che ha vinto il Tony Award® per il suo lavoro in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast), le luci di Natasha Katz, la scenografia di Stanley A. Meyer, il montaggio sonoro di John Petrafesa Jr. e la supervisione musicale di Michael Kosarin. Basato sul film d’animazione premio Oscar del 1991, Disney’s Beauty and The Beast ha debuttato a Broadway nel 1994, dove è stato nominato a 9 prestigiosi Tony Awards, andando in scena per ben 13 anni.
È infatti uno degli spettacoli di Broadway che vanta il maggior numero di rappresentazione e i maggiori incassi di tutti i tempi.
Nel corso degli anni, grazie al suo grande successo, la sua visibilità è cresciuta e sono nate produzioni in tutto il mondo.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast racconta la storia di Belle, una ragazza di provincia, e della Bestia, che dietro le sue mostruose fattezze nasconde un giovane principe che ha subito un incantesimo.
Se la Bestia imparerà ad amare e ad essere amata, la maledizione terminerà ed il principe tornerà ad essere se stesso.
Ma il tempo sta per scadere. Se la Bestia non imparerà presto la lezione, lui e il suo castello saranno condannati per l’eternità.

1. Metaphors are your friends.

“Sometimes a person we love, through no fault of his own, can’t see past the end of his nose.” What a nice way of saying “people are oblivious” while still being whimsical and charming. And “that’s a piecrust promise; easily made, easily broken” is pure genius.

 

2. Always be prepared.

Lamp? Check. Mirror? Check. Hatstand? Check. Wildly accurate tape measure featuring names of Banks children? Check.

 

3. Subvert expectations.

Anyone can slide down a banister. Up? That’s a new one. It’s good not to be too predictable.

 

4. Pick your friends very carefully.

Without Bert, we shudder to think what this story would have been. He’s the introduction, the person who drew the chalk pavement pictures, the catalyst for Jolly Holiday, the chimney sweep who saves a scared Jane and Michael from being lost in London, and the one who sells the kites in the last scene. Way to go on the friend-choosing, Mary.

 

5. Never judge things by their appearance.

Even carpetbags. We’re sure Mary Poppins never would.

 

6. Appreciate the joy of a Jolly Holiday.

Dancing penguins and a ride on a merry-go-round are just the kind of simple delights that make life worth living.

 

7. Dress the part.

Each Mary outfit is as impeccable as the next, and every one is situationally appropriate. Take note, friends.

 

8. Have a cheery disposition.

There’s a reason this made Jane and Michael’s list of nanny requirements. Didn’t your parents ever tell you that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar?

 

9. Read the room.

This house is one of the most interesting examples of Carso architecture. It has been converted into an ethnographic museum dedicated to ancient customs, handed down to our time.
This house is the main setting for the 'nozze carsiche' (kraška ohcet), the Carso wedding that is repeated as a ritual every two years at the end of August representing a real wedding according to the oldest traditions.
